Games Descriptions
Air Gun
Air Gun includes: pistol-standing, Pistol-benchrest, Rifle-standing, Rifle-benchrest. Air Gun competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the National Rifle Association (NRA) (Precision Air Rifle Rules and International Style Pistol Rules) and the New Mexico Senior Olympics Board of Directors. Competitors are required to provide regulation air guns and all personal equipment necessary for this event, excluding targets.
Archery
Archery will allow one of the following: Recurve (with sights), Compound Fingers (with sights), Compound Release (with or without sights), Barebow Recurve (no sights), and Barebow Compound (no sights). Archery matches will be conducted in accordance with USA Archery rules and National Field Archery Association, National Senior Games and the New Mexico Senior Olympics Board of Directors
Bowling
Bowling requires Photo ID to enter the White Sands Missile Range base. All Bowling Events will be conducted in accordance with US Bowling Congress and National Senior Games rules. This is a singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team tournament open to men and women. Check with the event manager on updates.
Cornhole
All sport equipment will be provided for competitors and must be used. Cornhole competitions include both single and doubles.
Fun & Rec
Fun & Rec competitions include: Soccer Accuracy Kick, Softball Distance Throw, Frisbee Distance, and Frisbee Accuracy Throw.
Golf
Golf tournaments will be conducted in accordance with USGA rules. Golf tournament will be 18 holes medal play except for men and women in age divisions 90 and older. Competitors in age divisions 90 and older will play 9 holes.
Huachas/Washers
All sport equipment will be provided for competitors and must be used. Event will be singles. Playing format will be double elimination or round robin tournaments based on the numbers of registered entrants.
Pickleball
Pickleball will be conducted in accordance with the USA Pickleball Association rules.
Powerlifting
Power Lifting events will be conducted in accordance with USA Power Lifting rules. Each competitor will compete in one lifting session and is allowed three attempts on each of three lifts (squat, bench press, deadlift).
Power Walking
Power Walk competitions include the 1500 meter for men, the 1500 meter for women, the 5,000 meter for men, and the 5,000 for women. All Power Walking events will be conducted in accordance with USPWA rules.
Road Races
Road Races include the 5K Road Race and the 10K Road Race. Athlete must register for each event, 5K and 10K separately.
Shuffleboard
Shuffleboard competitions include M/W and any Doubles. All shuffleboard matches will be ruled in accordance with official rules of the National Shuffleboard Association, Inc.
Swimming
Swimming competitions include: 200 Free, 100 Fly, 50 Breast, 200 IM, 100 Back, 50 Free, 200 Breast, 100 IM, 200 Back, 100 Free, 50 Fly, 100 Breast, 50 Back, 200 Fly, 500 Free.
Table Tennis
Table Tennis competitions include both Singles and Doubles.
Track and Field
Track competitions include: 5000 meter Power Walk, 100 meter run, 1500 meter run, 50 meter run, 400 meter Estimated Walk, 400 meter run, 1500 meter Power Walk, 800 meter run, and 800 meter Estimated Walk.
Field competitions include: Long Jump, Running Long Jump, High Jump, Shotput, Discus, and Javelin.
Trap and Skeet
Shotgun shooting sports including Trap and Skeet competitions.
