BOARD MEMBER    RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS

Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission. (From the Council of Nonprofits)

 

BOARD MEMBER

•  Know and support DACSO’s mission, policies, programs and needs

• Help establish the governing policies of the organization

• Help safeguard the organization’s assets and property

• Attend regularly scheduled board meetings and contribute meaningfully and respectfully to discussions and deliberations

• Understand the organization’s financial statements and financial position

• Review and approve the annual budget

• Serve on one or more board committees (Program, Promotions, Finance/Fundraising, Governance)

• Assist in securing financial resources for the organization, including making an annual donation at any level of giving

• Leverage connections, networks and resources that can benefit the organization
